New hairdresser sets up shop in Kingaroy

SUE Heinemann has moved on from travel, station work, and horse training to cut hair in Kingaroy.

Her new salon is Haircuts on Haly.

Sue Heinemann is not new to the South Burnett community.

"I've been in the South Burnett since 2013; but I was living more over Murgon way. I was managing a station," Sue said.

She was living and working on Barambah station.

"I was probably the only one there. It was a huge job. I had acres and acres of gardens to look after," she said.

She also worked one day a week at Alicia's Hair Salon in Murgon while there.

Sue has more than 30 years' hair cutting experience.

"I've come here to provide a service where people can walk off the street and get a haircut...no appointments....I have walk-ins only," she said.

"I've picked here because I love the town."

Sue is living outside of town with her good friends. They have spent the past week hand-making everything for inside her store.

Sue said she was hoping to hire locals.

"I need some business and then I can help somebody else with a job," she said.

"I just talk to anyone and everyone. I don't judge people....it doesn't matter who they are, where they're from, what their background is. People are people to me."

Sue has a rural background herself and is excited to become a part of the community.

"I can't wait to get settled in here and get my pony...my priority is to get this shop working. Once that starts to work then I can bring my pony up and then I can start getting involved in shows,” she said.

"I'm hoping they accept me into the community. I'm always one to help wherever I can with whatever I can do. And, if I can contribute to the community in any which way then I will.”
