Early childhood education can ‘change the trajectory’ of a child’s life

Childcare options at Kingaroy are about to expand with a proposed 54-spot centre being given the green light by the South Burnett Regional Council.

Councillors voted unanimously to approve to centre at Wednesday’s meeting.

The centre is to be built on a vacant block at Alford Street in Kingaroy about two blocks west of Kingaroy State High School and the opposite the Aquatic Centre.

The new childcare centre will cater for up to 54 children.

Councillor Danita Potter said the centre was a great thing for the community as there was a shortage of childcare centres in the region.

“There are people wanting to move to the area putting their children in child care,” Ms Potter said.

“This is something we drastically need in our community.”

The plans include 14 car parking spaces and one space for disabled permit holders.
