TWO of my favourite past times are singing in the school choir and throwing back a couple cold, frothy boys with friends at the pub.
So when I heard of a little old thing called Pub Choir I was ecstatic.
Social isolation has been leaving me a little bit on edge of late and I've been hoping for some kind of creative outlet to help me put my extra energy into something more productive than binge watching "Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness" on Netflix.
And I've found just the thing!
Couch Choir brings the beauty of everything we loved about Pub Choir and takes it to the loungeroom of our homes.
"Couch Choir is your opportunity to lazily shine from the comfort of your own home, and to create something beautiful with strangers all around the world," organisers said.
The Facebook event says the next Couch Choir event starts tonight (Thursday, April 2) from 7pm and the premise is pretty simple.
"We'll provide free singing instructions, and you'll provide a video submission of you singing your heart out from your home," the Facebook event explains.
"This will be our second Couch Choir, and we have learned so MUCH from our first. We can't wait to unleash this beast."
The first Couch Choir event saw over 1000 people from 18 countries submit a video of their performance of "Close To You" by Burt Bacharach with the video since being viewed over 357,000 times and receive public accolade from Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters.
This time around Couch Choir organisers are expecting a much larger number of people participate and send in submissions.
"We will release our instruction videos HERE and via our Pub Choir page on Thursday April 2nd at 7pm AEST (you do the timezone math)," the Facebook event said.
"We'll kick things off with a live video to announce the song choice.
"Be there, and then be a little square among thousands of other singing squares on the screen.
"THIS IS NOT ABOUT PERFECTION," the organisers stressed.
"This is about inclusion. Your voice matters."
So don't spend another aimless evening re-watching How I Met Your Mother tonight.
Tune into part two of Couch Choir at 7pm here to find out what the highly anticipated new song will be and then make a video of yourself singing it.
At trying times like these it's just good to feel part of a community.
Events like Couch Choir go to show two things: firstly, despite time of isolation and quarantine amid COVID-19 in our crazy modern-day society - all is not lost.
And secondly, even when the pubs are shut we can still make music and great memories.
