Murgon residents threatened, car stolen after frightening home invasion

The Murgon residents were woken at midnight by a strange noise coming from their living room, before being threatened with a weapon.

Murgon residents were left shaken after a group of youths broke into their home while they were sleeping and threatened them with a large piece of wood overnight.

Murgon police officer-in-charge Brett Everest said the sleeping occupants were woken between 11pm and midnight on Wednesday by a strange noise coming from their living room.

Senior Sergeant Everest said the residents found four juveniles in their Perkins Street home, saying the offenders threatened them with the wood and demanded they hand over their car keys.

Senior Sergeant Everest said the youths stole the car and drove it to Cherbourg, where police located it at 4am Thursday.

Police said it is not yet known how the offenders entered the home.

No charges have yet been laid.
