Murgon house fire: Firefighters battle blaze at Palmer St home

Fire crews have rushed to a residential street in Murgon after smoke was spotted billowing from the back of a house. Full details:

A man and his dog were lucky to escape after a fire ignited in their Murgon home on Thursday.

Four firefighter crews arrived on scene just before 3pm to smoke billowing from the back of the Palmer Street house.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the blaze appeared to have started in the kitchen.

The man and his pet dog were able to escape the house without injury before crews arrived.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 3.10pm and are now monitoring hot spots.

Police and paramedics also remain on scene.
