More details emerge after man camps out on roof, forcing major emergency service response

It’s been revealed a man who spent several hours on a rooftop in Kingaroy remains in hospital, after the tense incident played out in full view of the public.

A man remains in hospital after he climbed to the roof of a Kingaroy home and refused to get down, prompting a major response from emergency services.

Police were called to the home on Albert and Youngman streets about 2pm Tuesday, where the man reportedly refused to leave the roof for several hours.

It’s understood he later suffered a medical episode while on the roof.

Queensland Police confirmed officers had the man in custody just before 4pm, before he was transported to Kingaroy Hospital where he remains today.

At least three police vehicles were called to the scene, with two ambulances and a fire truck also attending.

Unconfirmed reports suggest a man was earlier seen running from the back of the nearby Kingaroy Hospital with a mop.

A police spokesman said there was no threat to the public.
