Man, woman flown to hospital after falling tree crushes car in Bunya Mountains

A falling tree has crushed a car, trapping two people in the Bunya Mountains, with a man having to be cut from the wreckage and flown to hospital. Full details:

A couple have been flown to hospital after a large tree fell and crushed their car while driving through the Bunya Mountains on Sunday.

The rescue helicopter flew to the South Burnett region just before 11.30am on reports a driver was pinned inside his car with the tree still on top of it.

The man was cut from the wreckage after almost two hours.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Paramedic, worked alongside local QAS paramedics in treating him for multiple traumatic injuries.

He was then was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women‘s Hospital in a serious condition.

His wife, who was a passenger in the car, suffered only minor injuries and also was flown to the hospital in a stable condition.

Paramedics also transported three people to Kingaroy Hospital following a two car crash on Kingaroy Barkers Creek Road at 3.29pm on Sunday.
