Kingaroy BaconFest is a two-day sizzling food festival (with a Friday night Wine and Swine cocktail party) that celebrates the versatility of bacon and puts Australian pork on centre stage.

The celebration has grown exponentially over the past few years, drawing crowds of about 8000 and 20 barbecue teams six years ago, to last year attracting a crowd of 17,000 people and 35 barbecue teams.

Kicking off on Friday, August 16, bacon lovers will experience the bacon eating competition, live music, fashion parades, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, markets and most importantly delicious foods that showcase bacon.

With multiple venues across Kingaroy, the celebrations will kick off with the “wine and swine” event Friday night at 6pm in the Town Hall Forecourt, before two full days of action launch early Saturday morning at the Rail Trail, Commercial Hotel, The Bacon Barn, Town Hall and Town Hall Forecourt.

The bacon eating competition finals will be held Sunday, with stacks of live demonstrations, music, dancing and food, before the festival and main stage close up about 3pm.

The festival is sponsored by one of the biggest employers in the South Burnett, SunPork Fresh Foods.
