A North Burnett man who “seriously injured” himself after allegedly kicking in a door at one of the region’s hospitals was just one of the residents recently dealt with by police in a spate of crime sweeping the area.

Gayndah police say the 32-year-old went to the dental surgery at the town’s hospital on Monday, where he then experienced a sudden mental health episode.

It is alleged the man kicked in a door within the unit during the outburst, leaving him with a serious laceration on his leg.

Police are waiting until he is released from hospital to talk to the man. No charges have been laid at this stage.

Officers also nabbed a man allegedly behind the wheel while more than four times the legal alcohol limit, finding the Gayndah man in his parked car with the keys in the ignition on Anzac Pde.

He allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.221 and his licence was suspended at the scene.

The man is due to appear in Gayndah Magistrates Court on June 24.

Several break-ins and thefts were also reported within the past week, with a RFDS donation tin and clothing items stolen from Mellors Drapery.

Offenders also damaged a door while breaking into the manual arts building on the Burnett State College campus within the same period.

A 37-year-old woman is also expected to face the Gayndah court after she allegedly drove off from the Liberty Service Station without paying for the fuel she had just put in her car.

She was charged with stealing and is due to appear in court on June 24.

Gayndah police were also called the scene of a tragic fatal crash on Mother’s Day at Booubyjan, which claimed the life of Rockhampton mum of two Kylie Parker.

Ms Parker, 42, was travelling along the Burnett Hwy with a 39-year-old man when their black SUV drove into a tree at around 5.30pm, west of Gympie.
