The search for a 53-year-old woman thrown from a water tube at a popular Queensland campground on New Year’s Eve has ended in tragedy after her body was found Wednesday morning.

Multiple emergency crews were called to the scene about 4.30pm Tuesday after the woman fell from the tube at the Emu Creek camping area at Glenhowden Rd, Anduramba, about 110km north of Toowoomba.

Search teams including swift water rescue units scoured the creek and its banks, with a Queensland Fire Department spokesman saying Monday the location was difficult to access.

The woman’s body was found shortly before midday Wednesday.

A second woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to Kingaroy Hospital with head injuries on Monday immediately following the incident.

It comes after heavy rain and flooding across the South Burnett region.
