A Dalby boy has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car while leaving school.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the 14-year-old was struck by the vehicle at about 3.30pm on Tuesday after running onto the road on Drayton St.

The driver of the car was a local man and one of those who called for emergency assistance.

Paramedics assessed the boy for minor injuries at the scene.

He was transported to Dalby Hospital in a stable condition.
