A major upgrade of a busy section of the D’Aguilar Highway has been announced, with work due to start later this year.
On Thursday, April 3, Transport and Main Roads unveiled the next stage of the highway improvement plan, which will tackle a stretch of road between Nanango and Kingaroy.
The plans included installing an intersection at Bushnell’s Road, widening the road between Caffery’s Road and Parsons Road, realigning a section of road between Bushnell’s Road and Parsons Road, and installing wide centre line treatment.
In addition to this, sections of the highway in Coolabunia will have bitumen works done to improve the road surface.
Preparation works have already started, with major construction due to start in the second half of this year.
Transport and Main Roads Regional Director for southern Queensland Bill Lansbury said residents would be notified of construction impacts before the work begins and highlighted the work that had already been completed on the highway as part of the High Risk Roads program.
“Motorists are already enjoying some of the benefits offered by works completed to date on the D’Aguilar Highway as part of the multimillion dollar safety improvements being delivered,” Mr Lansbury said.
“Once works on all sections are complete, the department will have upgraded 24km of the D’Aguilar Highway to improve safety and traffic efficiency.”
