A naturally gifted cricket player whose only coach has ever been her father has been selected to represent Queensland.

Isabella Eisenmenger will represent the state in the 10-12 Years Girls National Cricket Exchange in Ballarat, Victoria from November 19-26.

She has never played for a cricket club and instead has relied on her father teaching her batting, bowling and fielding.

Miss Eisenmenger said her father has coached her for the past three years at the old Wondai cricket nets, where every second ball flies through holes in the back wire mesh, all in preparation for this moment.

“I was the only South Burnett player chosen for the Wide Bay team at the trials in Maryborough last month,” Miss Eisenmenger said.

Isabella's parents have estimated the cost of this trip will amount to over $6,000 including flights, accommodation, a $760 cricket levy, uniform and equipment.

“The Wide Bay team travelled to compete at the State trials and to my surprise I was selected for the state team predominantly made up of Brisbane and south coast players.

“I have realised that coming from the South Burnett, it is tough to get to this level with the limited opportunities for girls to play regular cricket.

“I will get to do something many kids my age strive for in all sports and never get the opportunity to do, I am so proud to have this opportunity and want to make the most out of it.”

Miss Eisenmenger’s parents have estimated the trip will cost more than $6000 including flights, accommodation, a $760 cricket levy, uniform and equipment.

They created a Go Fund Me page for the community to get behind this opportunity for the South Burnett to be represented on a national stage.

“I will make a special sponsors shirt that will display anyone who can assist in any way and also mention the names and businesses of people who offer support,” she said.

Miss Eisenmenger said she hopes to follow the path of other girls in the industry who have progressed to state and national levels.

Mother Maria Eisenmenger said Isabella may be a quiet girl but when she gets into that competitive mode she gives it her all.

“She was the South Burnett age champion for athletics last year as well as Junior Sportsperson of the year, we have always supported her on her sporting journey,” she said.
