It’s not everyday you get to train with one of the most decorated coaches in rugby league history, but for young South Burnett players their season launch offered just that.
Dolphins coach and league legend Wayne Bennett took the youngsters through their paces at the TJ O’Neill Oval, kicking off the 2022 season with a bang.
The supercoach made his way throughout the training sessions for the Eagles, offering insights and tips for players and coaches, and encouragement for the starstruck youngsters.
Dolphins academy coach Kurt Richards made a second appearance at the club, following the Eagles’ first Beyond the Nest session in March.
QRL’s Danny McGuire was pleased with response from the local players and supporters.
“Great to see so many young players take the opportunity to meet Wayne Bennett and Kurt Richards last night,” Mr McGuire said.
“Great night with a great bunch of volunteers and supporters.”
The season will officially kick off this weekend in Nanango.
