Rural women to get economic and business savvy

INVESTING in women and the future will be the focus of a series of workshops for Queensland Women's Week.

South Burnett Regional Council, North Burnett Regional Council, Gympie Regional Council and BIEDO are teaming up to deliver the Women in Regional Economic Development (W.I.R.E.D) workshops.

BIEDO Chief Executive Officer Kristy Frahm is looking forward to the valuable workshops.

"It's fantastic to be working collaboratively with three different councils on the presentation of this workshops series acknowledging Queensland Women's Week,” she said.

Activities will align with this year's theme, Invest in Women. Invest in the future.

"Increasing women's economic security is vital for current and future generations of women in business and community and this workshop series certainly encourages that through confidence and capacity building,” Mrs Frahm said.

The workshops will be facilitated by Simone de Haas and are designed to empower women to make business and financial decisions with confidence.

Ms de Haas is a leadership communications consultant, professional theatre director, professional speaker, producer, actor, intuitive coach and creative catalyst who will encourage women to "find and use their voice”.

The workshops will also feature presentations from businesswomen local to each region.

The W.I.R.E.D Workshop series will be delivered with the support of the Queensland Government's Queensland Women's Week 2019 Community Grants.

The workshops will be held across two days at three locations - Moffatdale, Gympie and Mundubbera.

Gympie will first host the workshop with a session running at the Gunabul Homestead from 4-7pm on Wednesday, March 6.

The workshop will be held at the Dusty Hill Vineyard at Moffatdale, near Murgon, on Thursday, March 7, from 9am-noon.

A session will also be held in Mundubbera at the Mundubbera Community Development Association from 3.15-5.30pm.

The Mundubbera workshop will form part of a full day event, following on from the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network (QRRRWN) financial literacy workshop.

The W.I.R.E.D Workshop series aims to inspire women of all ages and backgrounds to grow their business with confidence and realise their value in their chosen industry.

Workshops will be free of charge for attendees and light refreshments will be provided.
