A no partner required, inclusive of all abilities, rock ‘n’ roll weekly dance class is coming to Kingaroy Town Hall.

Vanessa Pearce and Lisa Marie Porter from Kingaroy have facilitated the space for all residents to celebrate music and dance every Thursday from 6 to 9pm, starting on February 2.

The idea sparked after Mrs Porter and Mrs Pearce began travelling to Toowoomba each Sunday to dance.

Mrs Porter said she was so impressed that they decided to see if they could bring the program to Kingaroy.

“We worked closely with John and Jean Mustafa, who run the Toowoomba class, to ensure that the program will be enjoyed by dancers with some experience right through to those who have never danced at all,” Mrs Porter said.

“I have seen dancers come to their first lesson with no prior experience and after the first hour they are confidently following the excellently choreographed dance steps and moves.

“The program has been developed so that a partner is not required, a single person can come alone as the lesson steps are repeated on a rotation so that each person is able to repeat and practice the steps with other dancers of all abilities.”

Mrs Pearce and Mrs Porter were able to secure the spacious Kingaroy Town Hall for the class.

Mrs Pearce said the dances will be broken down into bite-sized chunks that can be taught, understood and performed by anyone.

“This makes it possible for all levels of dancers to participate, have fun and enjoy the program,” Mrs Pearce said.

Entry to the Burnett Rockers is $15 per class.
