A family owned carnivore temple, The Phat Wag, will open to the Murgon community this Saturday with free wagyu tasting, kids entertainment and their “world class” meats available for purchase.

Selwyn and Jocelyn Maller flew five Japanese “first class” cows with Qantas to Australia to their farm in northern Queensland more than 25 years ago.

Today they have breeding properties across Mitchell, St George, Roma, Mondure, Byee and Windera with 7000 cows.

The Phat Wag is the first butchers, processing and packing facility Mr and Mrs Maller have purchased and they intend to open another shop in Goomeri early next year.

“We are really excited to offer internationally acclaimed wagyu to Murgon and Queensland,” Mr Maller said.

“Growing and perfecting this business together with my family through droughts and the unknown, makes us proud after all these years, to now open our own butcher shop and processing facility.

“There will be free wagyu tasting, all samples of our products and retail will be open for anyone to purchase what they like.”
