Kingaroy mother Taylah Buckley celebrated her birthday last year as a mum of 1, this year she was joined by three new additions to the family.

Mrs Buckley was shocked to discover she was having a pregnancy that one in only 10,000 experience.

She was expecting triplets.

Mrs Buckley said she was absolutely blown away when she found out.

Elijah, Wyatt and Thomas Buckley were born on August 20 2022.

“I think I swore at my sonographer and then cried,” Mrs Buckley said.

“The babies were naturally conceived and we have no triplets, only one pair of twins, in the family.”

Mrs Buckley’s waters broke prematurely at 29 weeks and she was rushed to Kingaroy Hospital.

Soon after, she flew to Brisbane and gave birth to Elijah, Wyatt and Thomas a week later on August 20.

Wyatt and Thomas are identical and Elijah is fraternal.

He was the smallest of the three, weighing only 1100 grams.

Thomas and Wyatt were incubated for one week before moving onto special care and they were discharged from hospital on October 11.

Elijah was weaker and was separated from his brothers in an incubator and special care for ten weeks before arriving home on October 28, the day before Mrs Buckley’s 25th birthday.

Mrs Buckley said she can tell the difference between the boys as Elijah is still on oxygen and Wyatt is slightly bigger.

“Perhaps when they’re older I’ll have more trouble telling the difference,” Mrs Buckley said.

“I dress them in the same colour but in different outfits which helps.

Mrs Buckley and husband Bjay spent her birthday with close friends and family, everyone was thrilled to have Elijah, Wyatt and Thomas home.

Mrs Buckley said her eldest son, 4-year-old Kaiden, is loving the company of his little brothers.

“Every morning when I lay them on the mat he chats away to them while I get the bottles ready,” she said.

“He absolutely loves them, he is a great big brother.

Mrs Buckley said she braved the shops for the first time with the triplets yesterday and is looking forward to the future.

“It’s full on, but amazing,” she said.
