Dozens of North and South Burnett students have been elected as school leaders for 2022 and are ready to lead their cohorts through another massive year.
These young superstars have been hand-picked by their peers and teachers for outstanding leadership qualities, and they’re sure to bring big ideas to the table.
Meet the young leaders of 2022 here:
Kingaroy State High School
Kingaroy State High School has a strong team of leaders to represent the school in 2022, headed by school captain and president Steffanie Humphries and school captain and vice-president Joe Meikle.
Bridie Prendergast and Phoebe Day have been elected as vice-captain and secretary, and school vice-captain and treasurer.
The junior secondary captain roles were taken out by Tasleigh Gangemi (media) and Rory Crumpton (welfare) and the junior secondary vice-captains went to Emma Uebergang (cultural), Angel Caldona (environmental), Matilda Garcie (recreation) and Harrison Campbell (social).
The 2022 committee chairs are Charlotte Heathorn (environmental), Emma Wilks (community), Ben Springhall (media), Poppy Fitz-Herbert (social), Paige Connelly (recreational) and Layla Gauld (welfare).
Hanne Steenkamp and Lucy Crumpton were elected at the Bradfield house captains, Daniel Carroll and Stevee Stead for Lavarack, Miguel Macasaet and Selina Hansen for Youngman, and Zach Knight and Kristy Young will lead Palmer.
The Indigenous senior leaders are Alex Mackinnon and Tahnyalla Saltmer, and the Indigenous junior leaders are Nathanyal Keys and Gabriella Townes.
Saint Mary’s Catholic College
St Mary’s Catholic College elected a large leadership team for 2022, with 14 students chosen to represent the school.
College captains Luca Lazzaroni and Larissa Ramke will be joined by cultural captains Jasmin Kemp and Tia Sauer, mission captains Ally Kemp and Bella Hams, and inclusion captains Jemma Kenward and Anneke Gearing.
The Polding house will be led by Kimberley Speight and Teagan O’Sullivan, Quinn by Ebony Wessling and Liam Burt, and Rush by Jack Torrens and Mickayla Hodgson.
Blackbutt State School
Blackbutt State School captains shared their responsibilities for 2022:
School captain, Zaylen
“I’m a responsible student and I can report on actions with it’s wrong. I try to stay out of trouble and I’m always a good sport to my peers and younger students.”
School captain, Lucie
“I help around the school. I help younger kids and older kids. I do my work. I do what I’m asked. I’m a Playground Pal.”
Kendall house captain, Kyesha
“I have represented the school in horse riding. I also went to South Burnett Sprints. I try to be on my best behaviour.”
Kendall house vice-captain, Shelby
“I’m a responsible leader and I work hard. I would like to be a role model for students.”
Lawson house captain, Tahj
“I try and do my work neatly. Next year, I will be quiet in class. I will be nice and be a respectful friend.”
Lawson vice-captain, Elissa
“I follow classroom routines. I listen while others are speaking and respect their opinions.”
St John’s Lutheran School
St John’s Lutheran School has elected Mia Shailer and Briar Steinhardt as their senior school captains for the new year, while Charlotte Fechner and Flint Knight will lead the juniors alongside vice-captains Amelia Phillips and Jayce Walters.
Nanango State High School
Nanango State High School has a strong team of leaders set to represent the school in 2022.
Charli Clark and Jerem Hinchliff have been elected as school captains with Sarah Kidman and Sienna Spencer chosen as school vice-captains, and Victoria Diaz as Student Council president.
The rest of the SC committee and house sports captains will be voted on in 2022.
Nanango State School
Nanango State School’s team of little leaders include school captains Ada Kurz and Ezra Richardson, vice-captainsSuzie Downie and Zara Douglas, and student council president Tiffany Cook.
Taabinga State School
Students Ethan Keenan and Madison Campbell (school captains) and Clare Petersen and Eleanor Glenny (vice captains) will team up to represent their peers at Taabinga State School.
The Moomba house will be led by Jakob Strauf and Amelia Welch, Warana by D’arcy Harmsworth and Ella Fleischfresser, Bunya will be lead by Zayne Bartlett and Georgia Tilley, and Jacaranda by Nate Perrett and Allison Baldwin.
Murgon State High School
Students will kick-off the new year at Murgon State High School under the leadership of a strong team of new captains.
Girra-Dahla Watson and Amy Henderson have been elected as the school captains, and Willow Sleeman and Dawson Rattey as vice-captains.
Wheatlands State School
Wheatlands State School students Jorja Harch and Harry Dunlop have been chosen as school captains for 2022.
Cloyna State School
School captain BJ Corcoran will lead his small and tight-knit cohort at Cloyna State School for 2022.
Tingoora State School
Tingoora State School has elected Will, Cass, Jaidynn, Chase and Charlie as school captains for next year.
Benarkin State School
Little leaders Jackson Robinson and Carter Meldrum will represent Benarkin State School in 2022.
Proston State School
Proston State School will start 2022 under the leadership of school captains Kaitlyn Barber and Darren Blanch, and vice captains Isabelle Bleys and Jayden Hockey.
Burnett State College
Senior school captains Lauren Trott and Sophie Gibbs and junior school captains Zoe Baker and Jasmine Wager are set to guide Burnett State College through another great year.
Gayndah State School
The new Year 6 class will be led by school captains Oliver Hart and Joshua Wood along with vice-captain Hunter Roberts.
Leaders on the sports field will be Archer house captains Leon Slattery and Branden Murton, Burnett captains Roy Itzstein and Nikoli Thomson, and Connolly captains Finnegan Huth and Aidan Nercessian
The class representatives for the Blue and Green classes will be Angel Webster and Linzy Mailman.

Eidsvold State School
A large group of captains will guide Eidsvold State School through 2022, led by secondary school captain Grace Roth, secondary school vice-captain Angel Short, primary school captain Kira Fort, and primary school vice-captain Isaiah Boyle.
The Flinders sports and vice-captain are Alissa Fort and Montanna Smith, while Juleia Bayles-Law and Havana Parter will lead Leichhardt.
The Yumbin group leaders are Harmony Roberts, Georgia Schuh, William Lawlor, Marley Parter, and Josie Gitsham
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School opted to put forward their entire 2022 Year 6 cohort as next year’s school leaders, including Blake Harris, James Baker, Kara Smook, Mackenzie Ung, Madison Barbeler, Kiera Driver, Imogen Coulson and Phoebe Ross.
Mundubbera State School
Young guns Sharni-Lee, Holly, Tahlya and Tylee will lead Mundubbera State School into 2022. Who will take the role of school and vice-captain will be revealed next year.
