It wasn’t the day the organisers of the Burrandowan Picnic Races had hoped for to celebrate their 100th year, but punters made it special regardless.
Heavy rain and cold weather didn’t do much to dampen the spirits of race goers, with fascinators swapped for ponchos and raincoats.
Only one race was able to be run before the actual horse racing was called off, but attendees from as far away as Victoria still had a blast.
The day also saw the race committee launch it’s centenary book ‘100 Years Of Racing at Burrandowan’ by Dr Judith A Grimes OAM.
The book was launched by crowd favourite Dr E.M Ted Fisher OAM, who spent more than 60 years as the races’ honorary vet.
