Booie car fire: Driver’s lucky escape after car destroyed by fire on Malar Road

A woman was lucky to escape her car before it was engulfed in flames along Malar Road, near Swickers, on Thursday.

Emergency crews including police and firefighters were called to the incident at Booie at about 2pm.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman said the car was well alight when their two crews arrived.

The fire spread to surrounding grass and foliage, leaving the car and surrounding area charcoaled by the time firefighters extinguished the blaze at 2.25pm.

The woman reportedly evacuated the car when it began producing smoke while she was driving.

She was able to safely pull over and get out of the car before it ignited.
