Roma police arrest two teenagers for allegedly taking stolen car for a joyride through town

Roma police have arrested two teenagers allegedly responsible for stealing a white Holden Commodore and taking it for a joyride through town on Wednesday afternoon.

Two teenagers have been charged with numerous property offences following a police investigation into a highly publicised alleged burglary and car theft on Wednesday.

Officers from Roma Police Station in conjunction with detectives from the Roma Criminal Investigation Branch and Roma Rural and Stock Crime Squad made arrests after an unlawful use of motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle incident in Roma.

Police will allege around 2am on April 19 the two boys broke into a Roma residence stealing the keys to a white Commodore sedan, before leaving in the vehicle.

The vehicle was allegedly seen being driven dangerously around Roma Wednesday morning.

Photos of the stolen vehicle in question emerged on Facebook after it was found dumped in a paddock.

Police located the vehicle at 11.35am on Thursday April 20, then conducted a search of a Roma residence where they located and arrested the two alleged offenders.

Following the investigation, the pair were charged with a number of other offences.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with 12 offences including burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in Roma Magistrates Court on date.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with 21 offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and burglary. He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Roma Children’s Court at a later date.
