A mother is demanding answers and justice after her 15-year-old son was seriously assaulted allegedly by multiple adults at a junior rugby league carnival.
Police are still investigating as more details emerge of the vicious assault in St George in June.
Blake Cubby-Francisco was left with a broken collarbone, after a violent assault at Rowden Park in St George, during a Junior Rugby League Carnival on June 27.
Blake’s mother, Kylie Francisco, said her son was watching his nephew play in the junior rugby league carnival when his nephew was injured.
Ms Francisco said Blake went to the side of the field, where his nephew’s coach slung profanity at Blake.
She said Blake retorted and a man followed Blake as he walked away.
Ms Francisco said Blake can’t remember if he was tripped or grabbed, but she said witnesses claim to have found four men on top of Blake behind an ice cream truck parked near the carnival.
She said Blake’s collar bone was broken, and his face was severely battered.
Blake will have surgery on his collarbone in Toowoomba on Monday.
Ms Francisco said she was outraged the men took to violence against her 15-year-old son.
“This could have been prevented,” Ms Francisco said.
“Now my son has to have surgery on Monday … he has to have a plate put in his shoulder.”
She said she just wants justice for her son, which she knows will be a long process with no charges yet made against the alleged perpetrators.
She said she thinks one of the men who assaulted her son is an employee of the education department.
The education department was approached for comment, but referred inquiries about the matter to police.
The Queensland Police Service said investigations into the matter are still ongoing, with no charges yet made.
