An impatient man has been forced to cough up $1000 over a few apple pies after shouting abuse at Roma McDonald’s staff.
Other McDonalds customers had to witness Luke Wayne Joseph Wenning complaining and making threats while waiting more than 15 minutes for his food to be prepared at 2am, the Roma Magistrates Court heard.
The 32-year-old was told by staff there would be a short wait but that didn’t stop him from leaning over the counter and telling the manager, “if you didn’t have customers in here I’d smash your head into the bench,” according to police prosecutor sergeant Heather Whiting.
In court on Monday, Magistrate Peter Saggers labelled Wenning’s actions on December 19, as ‘disgraceful’.
“That’s totally unacceptable to put on a turn like that,” Mr Saggers said.
“If it’s taking too long, go somewhere else.
“I don’t know how old the person was you spoke to but predominantly they’re kids that working there.”
Wenning pleaded guilty to public nuisance, as well as two separate charges of breaching bail.
He was fined $1000 and had his conviction recorded.
