Learner driver Ieisha Alexis Garner pleaded guilty to driving without a supervisor and not displaying her L-plates

A learner driver has faced court after she was spotted driving without her L-plates and without a supervisor on two occasions when picking up her children.

Tricky road rules you're probably breaking

A regular drive to pick up her young children didn’t go to plan for this young mum after she was caught by police driving without an open-licenced supervisor and not displaying her L-plates.

The 24-year-old mother of three pleaded guilty to the charges, Roma Magistrates Court heard this week.

Ieisha Garner was on her way to pick up her young children, aged between 3 years and 6 months, from their aunty’s house when patrolling police spotted the vehicle.

Police noticed Garner did not have a relevant open licence, no driving supervisor and no L-plates displayed on the vehicle.

Police prosecutor Matthew Donnolly said Garner had similar entries on her history.

He said Garner had received two infringement notices in the last two months relating to the same charges for two separate incidents on June 19 and August 5 this year.

Magistrate Shane Elliott said Garner needed an incentive to stop her from reoffending.

“I suspect she’s not displaying her L-plates because she’s out here driving all the time without her [supervisor],” he said.

“You’ve done it in June and now you’ve done it again in August, the next time you’re going to get your licence disqualified.”

Magistrate Elliott handed her a $500 fine with no conviction recorded.
