Passengers on board a Rex Airlines flight from Brisbane to Roma experienced a delay, after their plane turned around midway to their destination.

The flight took off from Brisbane airport at 8.55am on Tuesday, but was diverted back to Brisbane before it could land in Roma.

A flight map shows the plane did not quite reach Miles before it turned around.

A Rex Airlines spokeswoman revealed why the flight never made it to its destination.

“Flight ZL5718 operating from Brisbane to Roma experienced a minor technical issue and as a precaution returned to Brisbane,” she said.

“It departed soon after following a short delay.”

The flight left Brisbane airport again at 12.08pm, and landed safely in Roma at 1.12pm.
