A Roma man has died after a vehicle collided with a power pole at high speed near the Roma Airport.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Carnarvon Highway near the corner of Hangar Drive about 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Initial investigations by police indicate that a Subaru sedan was travelling southbound on the Carnarvon Highway when it left the roadway and crashed into a power pole.

The driver and sole occupant, a 20-year-old Roma man, died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
