Family of Jeremiah Rivers plead for help after police call off ground search

‘Frustrated and helpless’: The family of Jeremiah Rivers is pleading for help as they search for the missing man in remote southwest Queensland after police called off the ground search.

The family of missing man Jeremiah Rivers is pleading for help to find him after police called off the official ground search.

Jeremiah’s mother Joanne, and his aunt and uncle Belinda and Digby Rivers are part of the unofficial search party that travelled to Noccundra from Western Australia and Northern Territory to find Jeremiah.

Belinda Rivers posted a live update to Facebook page on Monday, pleading with loved ones to join the search.

“Just letting family and friends know that there’s still no update, we still haven’t found him,” Ms Rivers said.

“As you can see here in Noccundra, there’s no search party. The search party is off.

“We’re here by ourselves, so if you can, come down and help. There’s no sign of him.

“We’re frustrated and helpless. We don’t even know this country.”

Ms Rivers said the family had no reception and minimal access to Wi-Fi, which they had to pay for from Roma.

Jeremiah was camping and fishing with friends near Wilsons River, 20km south of Noccundra, on October 18 when he disappeared.

His friends reported him missing when he went for a walk and never returned.

Charleville Patrol Group Acting Inspector Tim Mowle said police were working with the Cunnamulla Aboriginal Corporation for Health to provide welfare to the family.

He said family members were sent a care package on Thursday morning containing basis resources, including fruit, vegetables and toiletries.

Inspector Mowle said police provided information on where to search and took them to the campsite where Jeremiah disappeared.

Police are continuing to appeal for information across Queensland, New South Wales and North Territory to find Jeremiah.

Jeremiah Rivers is described as Aboriginal, approximately 185cm tall, with a slim build and a tattoo of a cross under his right arm.
