Caravan fire on Warrego Highway at Mount Abundance, near Roma

A caravan has been completely destroyed after a fire tore through the vehicle on Monday morning, 30km west of Roma.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the Warrego Highway near Mount Abundance, where the fire had been reported at 10.09am on Monday.

Three fire crews were on scene by 10.30am, a Queensland Fire Department spokesman said.

Fortunately, no one was inside the caravan and no one was taken to hospital, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.

However, the caravan was completely destroyed in the blaze, and caused grass fires in the surrounding area, which were quickly brought under control by QFD crews.

The westbound lane of the Warrego Highway was closed as crews continued to battle the blaze.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.
