TEAMS were pushed to the limits at the weekend as Roma Cities and Wallumbilla/Surat Red Bulls went head to head.

After a quick break through from both sides in the starting minutes of the first half, Cities were determined to keep Red Bulls' level.

However, at the half time siren Red Bulls were at the lead, leaving Cities hungry to catch them.

After bringing the score the even at the 20 minute mark of the second half, Cities pushed hard and snagged two consecutive tries, putting them at the lead and leaving Red Bulls scrambling.

The final score was 26-18, an impressive win for Cities which secured them second place on the leader board.

Cities coach Scott Hilton was impressed with his team's determination and drive on the field.

"This now puts us at second on the ladder and that game was a must win because if we lost we couldn't have finished any higher than third.

"It was a very good second half and we shut the Bulls out and managed to stop them from scoring at all in the second half, which is really pleasing,” Hilton said.

Hilton also said despite having Michael Fletcher in the sin bin for 10 minutes the team continued to defend well.

"Some of our stand out players were Michael Fletcher and Joe Packer in the halves and he was very composed.

"We have a pretty rock solid side, but today we did have some of our regulars out and had a couple of reserve graders help us out.

"The boys really dug deep defensively to get the win,” Hilton said.
