Roma Swimming Club proved it was a stroke ahead this week, with 11 of its team members receiving junior excellence awards from Swimming Australia.

The Australian Junior Excellence Program recognises, rewards and encourages junior swimmers who, through their development of aquatic skills and fitness, achieve a high standard of swimming excellence.

Swimmers aged from 9 to 16 years, who accomplish times set by Swimming Australia, qualify at Gold, Silver, Bronze or Green standard, depending on their best performances during the season.

The eleven swimmers received green and bronze level awards.

Coach Stacey Robertson said she was pleased with the achievement.

"The kids have done really well,” Ms Robertson said.

"Next year I'd like to see them progress to the next level by setting goals.

"We currently have a good number of swimmers in the club, with more than 150 kids enrolling in our winter program.

"That's a fantastic number for a smaller town, and I have my great staff to thank for that.”
