The Queensland government has revealed more details on the bike network planned for Roma, with a second path to connect Roma and Mitchell announced.

This comes after the state government announced in November last year plans to build a bike path from Roma to Injune along the Carnarvon Highway.

The government has confirmed the Roma to Injune bike path will link the intersections on the Carnarvon Highway from May St and Airport Drive while the newly proposed Roma to Mitchell bike path will run along the Warrego Highway and connect Feather and Currey streets.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the community was being asked to share any ideas they had.

“The project aim is to provide a safe and attractive option for bike riders and walkers to encourage increased active transport within the Roma community,” Mr Bailey said.

“We would love to hear from locals to find out what bike path options would suit their community.

“Walking or riding a bike is an easy, convenient and enjoyable way to travel, wherever you live in Queensland.

“The choice to ride should be as simple as choosing any other form of transport, improving people’s wellbeing and supporting healthy and happy communities.”

You can have a say on the possible future bike path by visiting the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ website and clicking on the ‘have your say’ button”. Navigate to the Warrego Highway (Roma – Mitchell) active transport infrastructure project to provide your feedback.

The consultation will be open until 10 March 2023.
