WHAT does the premier like to read?

That was one of the many questions curious kids asked Annastacia Palaszczuk when she visited Wallumbilla State School this afternoon.

Ms Palaszczuk paid the school a visit after her tour of the local gas hub, and was asked some hard hitting questions by the students during a Q and A session.

From how many meetings she attended a week, to where she called home - the students got better acquainted with the state leader.

Many of the questions centred on the Premier's reading challenge, a state initiative aimed at improving literacy.

When asked about her favourite read, Ms Palaszczuk said she was a fan of Narnia and the author Tolstoy.

Following the quick session, year 8 students Matt York and Charlie Maunder gave Ms Palaszczuk a tour of the school.

"It's pretty cool to have actually met her,” Mr York said.

"I've seen her on TV heaps, and so it's good to see what she is like in real life.

"I also like the fact that she took the time to come to Wallumbilla and see our school.

"She seems to be very down to earth. I was a bit surprised her favourite book was Narnia! Guess I didn't know what to expect.”

Ms Palaszczuk visited a year 7 and prep class during the tour, involving herself in the learning activities.

"It was certainly a career highlight to have her visit,” Wallumbilla State School principal Melissa Graham said.

"It was good she took some time out to meet the students, that meant a lot to us.

"I loved the children zoned in on what she liked to read - the reading challenge is a big focus of ours at the moment.”
