CINEMA Roma is reopening with a bang, screening the new Avengers and Starwars films this evening.

The inspiration behind the cinema's revival?

A love of all things film and community, of course.

Movie buffs Terry and Shenen Ogilvie have taken the reins on the project, jumping from video to the big screen as the theatre's new managers.

The couple, which currently run the video shop OgilV Entertainment, swooped in to save the theatre from termination after its closure last year.

"When the cinema first closed, we had a lot of customers come in and ask us if we would take it on,” Mr Ogilvie said.

"Two months ago, after seeing the posts on social media, we started to discuss it - and we decided we wanted to keep the movie industry in Roma.

"The community loves the theatre, it's a great thing for people to do.

"Where else do you take your first dates? And it's a nice place for mums and bubs to relax.

"We wanted to give something back.”

The news was met with excitement from Roma residents, many of whom took to social media to express their glee.

"We want to get (films) as they are released across the country,” Mr Ogilvie said.

When asked about their favourite movies of all time, the couple said they loved the classics.

"Yeah, it would have to be The Goonies for me,” Mr Ogilvie said.

"And I know Shenen's is El Dorado.”

The Ogilvies will now split their time between the cinema and OgilV Entertainment.
