NOT EVEN the cold could dampen the spirits in Injune, as dozens gathered in a Coronation St backyard on Saturday for the biggest morning tea of the year.

Featuring a camp oven cook-off between Justin MacDonnell from Wallaroo, and Injune local Lynne Jones, revellers enjoyed a cuppa, sweet and savoury treats and damper as they supported the local branch of Cancer Council.

By the end of the day, the community had raised more than $2000 for cancer research and support.

"Considering the weather on the day, I thought it was a really good effort,” president Janice Humphreys said.

"Justin MacDonnell won the damper cook-off by $8, which he was happy about.

"Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves and to take that much from the day was fantastic.”

Injune formed a Cancer Council branch eight years ago, and has hosted a Biggest Morning Tea since.

"The community always come out to support us and it's great we can now give this money to the council,” Ms Humphreys said.
