Information on wild dog exclusion fences

BALONNE Shire landholders who are thinking about building a wild dog exclusion fence are urged to come along to a council forum next week at St George Cultural Centre.

The forum will start at 8am on Tuesday, November27, and has been designed to answer any questions landholders may have about how a wild dog exclusion fence could help them.

Mayor Richard Marsh said the forum provided an ideal opportunity for landholders to understand how an exclusion fence could be of benefit to their business.

"Our council team has put together a great agenda which I'm sure will answer any questions our landholders have about wild dog exclusion fencing,” he said.

"There will be representatives from State Government agencies involved in wild dog exclusion fencing and a local landholder who has already installed a fence will talk about his experience.

"A number of fencing companies and agri-bank representatives will be on site with displays and are available for discussions with landholders.

"Council encourages all landholders to come along to ensure they are aware of the costs and benefits of wild dog exclusion fencing.”

Cr Marsh said landholders who had already installed wild dog exclusion fencing were reporting increased lambing rates.

"Those who have already taken this step believe it has been well worth it,” he said.

The forum is open to the public but the council asks those wanting to attend to please RSVP to 46208829 by 5pm this Friday.
