A woman has been flown to hospital after a quad bike crash at a remote property in Central Queensland. Here’s what we know.

NSW coroner calls for new quad bike laws

A woman was flown to Rockhampton Hospital on Sunday after her quad bike rolled at a property south-west of Rockhampton.

The RACQ Capricorn Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Springsure and left its base about 6.05pm.

It was reported a woman in her 60s had crashed into a barbed wire fence on a remote property.

The woman sustained several lacerations to her head and also had suspected fractures to her upper body.

She was initially treated by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Springsure airfield to be flown to Rockhampton.

The woman was assessed by the on-board critical care paramedic and flight doctor.

She was stabilised and flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition for further scans and treatment.

Quad bike crashes aren’t uncommon in Central Queensland.

Allan ‘Kiwi’ Andrew tragically died at Raglan in October after the quad bike he was riding rolled.

In June 2020 a man, who had been reported missing, was found dead after he was involved in a quad bike crash on a Marlborough property.

The Office of Industrial Relations floated a number of new regulations for quad bikes, including mandatory helmet wearing, in May, after the numerous deaths involving the vehicles.
