A decade on from opening its doors in 2013, Vidafit has been crowned Rockhampton’s best gym.
The gym’s owner Dan Withers found his passion for personal training in 2010 while helping his friends with their fitness journeys and became a qualified personal trainer three years later.
“Vida fit was born in my rumpus room with 3 other people,” Mr Withers said.
“It started out of love to improve my friend's health, and then a lot of people started booking in.”
“I absolutely didn't think that this would be a business.”
Mr Withers recalls the first few years of the business to be pretty hectic, where it expanded from his rumpus room to his home gym, and then he started renting sheds, until finally in 2015, he moved the gym to its current location on Yaamba Road.
In 2017, Vidafit was expanded to a second location in the Southside, which has since been rebranded as ‘South Rockhampton VFX.’

Working in real estate prior, Mr Withers never intended on making a profit from Vidafit.
“I always trained myself and began drawn to helping others.
“I did it out of love.”
Driven by a passion for nurturing the emotional, physical health and mental health of others, Mr Withers swears by movement being the key to overall health.
“Our whole philosophy at Vidafit is to help people to fall in love with movement,” Mr Withers said.
“Movement is just a catalyst that drives positive change in people lives, in so many parts of life, social, emotional, mental and physical.”
Mr Wither said that they welcome everyone from all walks of life at Vidafit, with people from 4 to 80 years old joining the gym.
With a team of 18 staff members: personal trainers, coaches, and child-minding staff, and more than 500 members across the gym, Vidafit welcome everyone from all walks of life from as young as four onwards to 80 years old.

“Our team is all the difference. Our business is built on the experience with some of our team having more than 20 years in the fitness industry.”
Mr Withers said that being titled Rockhampton’s best gym of 2023 has been a ‘reflection of the work that his team has put into the gym over the last ten years’.
“We wanted to create a space, community that was like no other,” he said.
Actively aiming to cater to the needs of ‘every single’ demographic, Vida fit offer 12 different programs, and 120 different weekly classes.
“Thank you, Rockhampton, for the support its pretty humbling,” Mr Withers said.
“If you asked me 20 years ago if I would be doing this I wouldn’t think so.
I love my work.”
Mr Withers shared that his favourite part about working at Vidafit, is seeing the fulfilment of his staff, watching them live with the same passion as him.
