IT WAS only when police played Jason Robert Beattie a recording of a bomb threat made in a Triple Zero call that he admitted he was behind the hoax.

Beattie pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Friday to use of a carriage service for a hoax threat.

Police Prosecutor Clancy Fox said Beattie made the Triple Zero call at 1.42pm on February 1.

Beattie told the operator "mate, when the bomb goes off you're going to need them all at the Frenchville Tavern".

He later confirmed to police he had been referring to the Frenchville Sports Club.

Mr Fox said police searched the area and no suspicious devices were found.

He said Beattie contacted police at 5pm that day and officers later found him on Farm St. The court heard Beattie initially denied making the call.

But Mr Fox said when played a recording of the call, Beattie admitted it was his voice.

Mr Fox said Beattie told police he didn't know why he made the call and was intoxicated at the time.

Magistrate Cameron Press said the bomb threat was "a serious misuse of a carriage service".

Beattie was convicted and sentenced to three months' imprisonment, placed immediately on probation for 12 months with a recognisance of $1000.
