Tragic death of Rockhampton fireman, sportsman and volunteer

A firefighter and businessman, Blair Grice was a stalwart of Central Queensland soccer and a popular figure in Aussie rules. His death has sent shockwaves through the community.

Tributes are flowing from all quarters of the Rockhampton community following the sudden death of Blair Grice.

Friends who are grappling with the shock and pain of his loss are remembering a special man whose vivacious spirit, infectious personality, creativity and sportsmanship left an indelible mark on so many.

A firefighter and businessman, Blair was a stalwart of Central Queensland soccer and a popular figure in Aussie rules. He was also well known for his support of junior sports players across the region.

In more recent times Blair had launched a successful entertainment venture – Skewed Kullrz Silent Disco.

A loving family man and father of four, he lost his wife Angela to bowel cancer in January 2017.

Brothers Australian football Club posted a moving tribute to Blair on their Facebook page, saying he made a significant contribution both on and off the field.

“A talented reserves ruck man, Blair embodied club values of respect, discipline and Brotherhood in his approach to training and game play,” the post read.

“He was loved by his coach, teammates and supporters.

“Blair brought many great times off the field too, with a highlight being the Silent Disco which complemented the club’s Beer Pong event in 2020. Incredibly well attended, Blair’s initiative broadened the experiences our members were able to enjoy during the Year of Covid.

“Our thoughts are with Blair’s family, friends and workmates. His vivacious spirit and beaming smile will remain in our hearts.

“Rest easy, Blair.”
