Thief kept truckin’ while chased by police to Sarina

A ROCKHAMPTON man, 34, is facing five charges after a police pursuit that started in Rockhampton on Friday night and ended in Sarina three hours later.

A ROCKHAMPTON man, 34, is facing five charges after a police pursuit that started in Rockhampton on Friday night and ended in Sarina three hours later.

About 8.25pm a truck was reportedly stolen from a transport depot on Park Ave.

About 8.45pm police attempted to intercept the truck after they saw it travelling on Stenlake Ave.

The truck allegedly drove through a red light to evade police.

It was last seen by police travelling north on the Bruce Hwy.

About 11.45pm, the truck was intercepted without incident on Armstrong Beach Rd, Sarina.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody.

He was charged with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, wilful damage, dangerous operation of a vehicle and fail to stop motor vehicle.

The man is expected to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court.
