They were the benchmark all season and despite trailing early in Friday’s decider, continued their impressive form to storm home, scoring five tries to two.

The match winner for Robson was her second of the game, her first a brilliant 80m individual effort.

Winger Rhiannah Brown also bagged a double, with second rower Alexis Bukowski completing the score sheet.

Emmaus came out hard in the opening stanza, their defence repelling the attacking flair for which TCC are renowned.

They were on the board first, when lock Mattice McLeod crossed in the 11th minute.

TCC hit back within minutes and took a 10-6 lead into half-time.

They got the jump on their opponents with two tries early in the second but Emmaus were back in the game when five-eighth Hannah McCrohon went in to close the gap to 10 points.

TCC would not be denied this title, producing a brilliant backline move that put Robson in and with just minutes left on the clock.

It was a sweet reward for TCC, who were focused on grand final redemption after being beaten by St Pat’s Mackay in the Confraternity decider in June.

PREVIEW

Grand final redemption is driving The Cathedral College as they prepare for the Friday’s rescheduled Dolphins Schoolgirls Challenge decider against Emmaus College.

TCC are still smarting after their four-point loss to St Pat’s Mackay in the big dance at Confraternity - and they are keen to make amends.

“A lot, it’s almost indescribable,” Moore replies when asked how much that is driving his players.

TCC have been the benchmark in this competition, going through the regular season unbeaten and scoring a commanding 32-6 semi-final win over Rockhampton Grammar.

Moore said they were excited for another grand final appearance, especially after the misfortune of the Confro decider.

“Our big goal is to redeem ourselves from that Confro loss and get the job done against Emmaus,” he said.

“We’re focused on that.”

Attacking, free-flowing footy is a feature of TCC’s game - and they will be keen to showcase that again on Friday.

Manaia Faiumu Malone bagged three tries in their semi-final win and will spearhead the attack against Emmaus from fullback.

High-energy lock Maycee Brown will be up for another big game, as will starting front rower Mikeely Griffiths who will set the tone early with her high workrate.

Moore expected Emmaus to be ‘more than happy to throw the ball around and take a few risks’.

Emmaus booked their final berth with a 20-8 come-from-behind win over Shalom in the semis.

Coach Nikki Carpenter said the team connected well and was able to break the line through their push support in attack to score points against Shalom.

“That’s what we had hoped for to secure the win, and it is a great way to give us momentum for a tough grand final against TCC,” she said..

“We are up for the challenge and are super-stoked to be in the grand final.”

Carpenter said every one of her players would be key, but the spine combinations would be pivotal.

“A lot of that will come down to Dominique Saunders, Lilla Pratt, Sophie Barnes, Mattice McLeod and Hannah McCrohon leading us around,” she said.

“Our hard-working forwards in Stevie-Lee Dixson, Addison Carlyon, Hannah Jamieson and Tasmyn Boody will power us up the field. We will look to work off that back of that effort in eyes-up footy.”

Moore said he was excited for Friday’s showdown.

“The girls played really well against Grammar, they really hit their straps,” he said.

“I’ll just be asking for more of the same.

“They are very skilful and I want them to always back themselves, their skills and their ability.”
