The future of Queensland cricket will be on show in Cairns next week.
Eight regional teams from across the state will contest the Bulls Masters Under-16 Youth Cup at three venues across the northern city.
They are divided into two pools and will play in the 50-over format, with three round games before the positional playoffs on Thursday.
Each team is assigned a former Queensland cricket legend, who will mentor the players during the carnival.
It is also an opportunity for the young guns to catch the eye of scouts and coaches who will be watching on with interest.
The Sunshine Coast Scorchers will undoubtedly start favourites.
They won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022 before the 2023 event was cancelled when Cyclone Jasper hit Cairns.
Other previous winners include the Darling Downs Suns (2016, 2017, 2020), Mackay/Whitsundays Nitros (2018) and South-East Queensland Seamers (2019).
