A Rockhampton drummer is rocking the region’s mightiest mullet, drawing inspiration from the music and movies of the 80s and 70s.
“I’ve been told I have a traditional 80s fuller retro mullet as opposed to the clipper mullets,” drummer, Rhett Hack said.
Growing out his hair for the last two years and two months, Rhett attributes his mullet’s maintenance to the help of his mother’s salon “Brush and Comb.”
“I’ve always wanted to to grow my hair longer since finishing high school,” he said.
“That and also wanting to look like Patrick Swayze, young Shawn Michaels and Iva Davies.”
The 21 year old stonemason by day, band member by night was shocked to hear that he won the title of Central Queensland’s mightiest mullet, let alone with the amount of votes he received.
“It was a bit of a shock seeing that I was in the lead in the voting stages but, now knowing that I have won it I still can’t believe it. “
“There are a lot of great mullets out there who deserve it.”
Smashing through the poll, Rhett received a whopping 47 votes, passing runner ups Ryley Wright and Arvin Fox by 18 per cent (30 votes).
Rhett’s up and coming band, REVELRY is a Rock/Pop band, which started up in April 2022 with the main three band members, Josh Fleming as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Christian McIntosh on lead guitar and back up vocals, and Rhett on drums.
Since then they have expanded their band to six members, with Liam White on the saxophone, Adam Hooper on the Rhythm and Lead guitar and Will Smyth on Bass.
“We are a three piece band for smaller/pub gigs and a six piece band for larger venues and events.”
“I met Josh Fleming back in 2020 and we used to occasionally jam together until Christian McIntosh joined (and we formed the band).”
The band has recently decided to take a break from gigs to focus on writing and making original music, but are keen and excited to get back to performing “really soon.”

“I’d like to give a shout out to the rugby union club that I play for, Cap Coast Rugby Union (AKA the Crocs).”
“They’ve been supportive of both my music path and my hair.”
The three piece band (Rhett, Josh and Christian) performed at the club’s event ‘Smoke Wars’ last September and have be asked to return this year as well.
Congratulations to Rhett!
