Rockhampton police are appealing to the public for any footage or information about a suspicious house fire on Alma Street on Saturday evening.
Police arrived about 5.30pm to the Alma Street blaze which spread between the PureComm building and an adjacent vacant home.
Detective Senior Sergeant Damien Smith said both buildings suffered ‘significant structural damage’.
He said he believed they would both be deemed structurally unsound.
“We’re appealing to people with any dashcam footage of the area or CCTV footage or have any information in relation to contact Crime Stoppers or police,” he said.
Senior Sergeant Smith said no one was in the house at the time although there were minor explosions due to gas.
“So it’s just out of luck that no one was injured,” he said.
Police have contacted the owners of both buildings.
Police haven’t located any suspects at this stage.
Senior Sergeant Smith said the house had been empty for a period of time, and it appeared people had been going inside the premises.
According to Senior Sergeant Smith, no one was seen leaving the premises.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
