A female mountain bike rider is out of hospital after being injured on Rockhampton’s First Turkey mountain bike trails on Sunday.

A Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service said on Monday morning the patient, who was stabilised on scene before being airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital on Sunday afternoon, was discharged later that day.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said in a statement at 1pm Sunday that the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service had flown the woman to hospital from the trails near Guthrie St.

He said she was transported in a stable condition with serious injuries to her shoulder, back and ribs just before heavy rain hit the area.

Emergency crews had been called to a serious mountain biking accident in Frenchville on Sunday morning, after the rider was injured on the First Turkey mountain bike trails.

Paramedics received a call at 9.52am regarding the incident.

Fellow riders raised the alarm after the rider went missing for about an hour.

The spokesman said paramedics were sent to the scene, and a rescue helicopter was on its way.

Emergency crews gained access to the area via a fire trail off Rogar Ave and made their way on foot to the location.

“It looks like they have located a rider on part of the track … it’s been difficult to actually locate this person,” the spokesman said at the time.

The rider was found on the 1.7km K9 trail, which has a 181m descent.

“It’s proving to be difficult … we are looking to extricate the patient to a clearer zone so we can assess the patient properly,” the spokesman.
