Plans have been proposed to subdivide a block of land 150 metres from Yeppoon’s main beach and build three townhouses.
The vacant block at 12 John Street, Yeppoon sold to a Melbourne family for $425,000 in February 2022.
The property is on the corner of John Street and Logan Lane.
The townhouse buildings would be four storeys with lifts and open roof terraces on each building.
Each townhouse would also have a lockable garage with two covered car parks and two uncovered spaces in the driveway, creating a total of four car parks per dwelling.
The buildings have been designed to be high quality and independent houses, constructed with modern building materials focused on liveability, visual appearance and energy efficiency.
The planning report notes the proposal is a “desired use and will assist with the provision of accommodation options which are highly sought after in the current housing crisis”.
“The proposal has been well designed and is an attractive development that is in a visible location and in close proximity to other medium to high density residential developments,” the report states.
The developers have the intention of subdividing the property into freehold land upon completion of the dwellings.
The lot sizes would be 196 sqm, 151 sqm and 157 sqm with fencing between adjoining lots.
The property has been previously fully council approved for three architecturally designed apartments.
The new development application will now be assessed by Livingstone Shire Council planning officers.
