A beachfront house on the Capricorn Coast that dates back to the early 1920s has sold for the first time in 60 years.

The Queenslander at 8 Kennedy Street, Zilzie, sold for $1.05 million on June 19 through Professionals Emu Park.

Principal Kevin Doolan said there was a lot of interest in the property before it sold.

“We had about 100 inspections,” he said.

Mr Doolan said the buyers were a young family from Rockhampton.

“They really liked the position and the older Queenslander house,” he said.

“They are going to restore it.”

Mr Doolan said the property was one of the best beachfront blocks of land in Zilzie.

“It’s a rare unique property,” he said.

“The house is an old Queenslander but it just has something special about it.”

It is believed the house has been there, on the Point, since the 1920s, and that it was possibly put there to be used as change rooms, close to the beaches either side of it.

Mr Doolan said the house was transported from Mount Morgan.

Since April 18, 1963 the house had been with the one family, the Salmon family, and for the first time in 60 years, it was listed for sale.

Situated on a 1919 sqm allotment, the property boasts three bedrooms, one bathroom, laundry, large sunroom with access to the front deck that also contains a separate toilet and store room, spacious sleep out, and dining room and kitchen with access to the living area.
