A 155 acre property in Cawarral that has been owned by a local family for more than 90 years has sold for $2.375 million.

The property at 561 Coorooman Creek Road sold on May 2 through Professionals Emu Park.

Principal Kevin Doolan said there was a huge amount of interest in the property before it was sold to a buyer from Yeppoon.

“We had about 30 inquiries and nine unconditional offers,” Mr Doolan said.

“All locals and they all had the cash.

“Cawarral is a very popular area and it is very hard to buy blocks of land there.”

He said the property, which was set on 10 individual titles, would “end up a rural subdivision”.

He said the property was owned by the Boto family for more than 90 years.

“They are very happy with the outcome,” he said.

Initially bought by Thomas Boto more than 90 years ago, the property was subsequently purchased later by one of his sons, Allan Boto.

Three generations of the Boto family attended the local primary school, which was in walking distance, and the family home saw six children raised.

The land was initially hand cleared, then machine cleared in the following years and went on to grow crops such as sorghum, pumpkins, watermelons, pawpaws and pineapples.

Later on, along with the purchase of small parcels of neighbouring land, the property was fenced and sown to provide improved pastures for grazing cattle in the hills and valleys just outside the Cawarral township.

With the passing of Allan and Daphne Boto, their five children made the tough decision to put the second-generation owned family property on the market.

The property boasted a three-bedroom, two bathroom farmhouse with timber flooring, a four bay carport with a high machinery bay attached, a three bay machinery shed, bore, rainwater tank, chook pen, improved pastures and excellent views

The property also had extensive improvements, including underground drainage to eliminate overland flow, which was carried out to enable land sustainability and management practices that would see the land retain its value well into the future.
