New information and footage has emerged following a cattle truck mishap in the Beef Capital of Rockhampton this week.

It comes after the incident was first reported on Tuesday afternoon.

The animals were being transported by trailer on Moores Creek Road near Yaamba Road when the truck was involved in a crash in the city’s north about 3.35pm.

Part of the Stockland car park was closed down as council workers and officers from the police stock squad trapped the escaped cows.

A Rockhampton Regional council cattle crate was seen arriving along with a tow truck.

At least one of the animals was quickly contained and seen lying on the ground with its feet tied before being loaded onto the council crate.

A second animal was still being tracked on Richardson Rd on Tuesday afternoon.

Video has since emerged on social media of multiple police cars and officers trying to contain the cow on a suburban street after it fled the scene of the crash.

A council spokeswoman also confirmed on Thursday both animals had been contained.

It understood the two cows were taken to be reunited with the rest of the travelling herd bound for the Gracemere saleyards.

RRC planning and regulation councillor Grant Mathers said earlier the cattle truck trailer had become “unbalanced while turning, causing the trailer gate to unlatch and two cattle escaping”.

“Police promptly arrived on the scene and have since been managing traffic control,” he said
